Barbara

Barbara station sits on Line 4 of the Paris Métro beneath the Avenue de Stalingrad, straddling the boundary between Montrouge and Bagneux. It takes its name from the French singer-songwriter Barbara, one of the defining voices of postwar chanson, who died in 1997 and is buried at the nearby Cimetière parisien de Bagneux. The tribute is conspicuous within a metro network whose stations are overwhelmingly named after politicians, battles, and geography — a musician as sole namesake is genuinely rare. The station offers step-free access and two street-level entrances onto the surrounding avenue network.
