Battle Ground Lake State Park covers roughly 275 acres of evergreen forest in Clark County, Washington, centered on a volcanic maar lake — a crater lake formed by ancient volcanic activity rather than a typical mountain caldera. Maar lakes are geologically rare in the Pacific Northwest, giving this park an unusual natural character. Managed by Washington State Parks since 1966, the park opens daily from 6:30 am until dusk. Visitors swim, fish, kayak, and hike a network of forest trails; lakeside campsites allow overnight stays deep in the old-growth canopy, just a few miles northeast of Battle Ground.
