Obedska bara

One of Serbia's oldest nature reserves (since 1874): a biodiverse Ramsar wetland along the Sava, some 40 km west of Belgrade.

Obedska bara is one of Serbia's oldest nature reserves — established as early as 1874 — and a significant swamp-forest area along the Sava River, some 40 kilometres west of Belgrade. The 175,000-hectare area is internationally recognised as a Ramsar wetland and is home to over 220 bird species, 50 mammal species and more than 16 fish species. It is considered the most biodiverse wetland in the Pannonian Basin and is a genuine gem for birdwatchers and nature lovers seeking somewhere off Serbia's tourist trail.
