Blue Mound State Park

Blue Mound State Park sits in Iowa and Dane Counties in southwestern Wisconsin, managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources since 1959. The Blue Mound itself rises to roughly 1,716 feet, making it one of the highest points in southern Wisconsin, and two observation towers at the summit offer broad views over the Driftless Area — a region that escaped glaciation and retains a distinctly rolling, ridged terrain uncommon for the upper Midwest. The park offers hiking trails, mountain bike loops, and campgrounds spread through mixed woodland. Fall color draws visitors to the hilltop for its panoramic reach over the surrounding farmland and forest.
