Beaver Brook State Park

Beaver Brook State Park spans roughly 162 acres of stream valley, mixed woodland, and the central Bibbins Pond across the towns of Windham and Chaplin in eastern Connecticut. The park was established in 1955 when local landowner H. Keeney Lathrop donated 66.8 acres to the state — a postwar act of private conservation that seeded what would grow into its current footprint. The Beaver Brook river corridor runs north of the pond toward the Air Line State Park Trail, a converted rail corridor that marks the park's northern boundary. Visitors find quiet woodland trails, pond-side fishing, and undeveloped stream banks — a low-key local nature retreat with no crowds or commercial facilities.
