Braunhardsberg

The Braunhardsberg rises to 969.5 metres above sea level southwest of Albstadt-Tailfingen and sits directly on the European main watershed — the continental divide separating river systems draining to the North Sea from those flowing to the Black Sea. Rainwater falling on the eastern slope eventually reaches the Danube via the Schmiecha, while water on the western side drains through the Eyach into the Rhine. A nature reserve covers the western flank of the summit. From the top, walkers can look out over the Heersberg plateau and down into both the Schmiechatal and the Oberes Eyachtal. The mountain is a quiet half-day hiking destination with no mountain hut infrastructure.
