Canary Wharf

The Canary Wharf Elizabeth line station opened in May 2022 as part of the £500 million Crossrail Place development, forming a key stop on the new east–west Crossrail route linking Abbey Wood to Reading. Its most distinctive feature is its above-ground section, which sits on an artificial island constructed within a former dock basin of the West India Dock — once one of the British Empire's most important trading ports, later redeveloped into London's secondary financial district from the 1980s onward. The tunnelled portion runs directly beneath the historic dock, giving the station an unusual layering of industrial heritage beneath contemporary transit engineering. Interchange is available with the Jubilee line Underground station and the Docklands Light Railway at Poplar. The station is fully wheelchair accessible.
