London King's Cross

King's Cross is a Victorian terminus opened in 1852, its twin round-arched brick frontage one of London's most recognised railway facades and listed Grade I for its architectural importance. It serves as the southern anchor of the East Coast Main Line, dispatching intercity trains north to Edinburgh and beyond, and sits directly beside the St Pancras Eurostar terminal, making the combined interchange one of Britain's busiest transport nodes. In 2012 architect John McAslan & Partners completed a sweeping new concourse beneath a geodesic steel roof — a lattice of over 2,000 triangular panels that transformed the formerly cluttered forecourt into a luminous public space. The station also carries a second, entirely fictional identity: J.K. Rowling set the departure point for Hogwarts Express at Platform 9¾ here, and a physical trolley-in-wall installation now draws devoted fans from around the world every single day.
