Canary Wharf

Canary Wharf Jubilee line station sits deep beneath the glass-and-steel towers of London's Docklands financial district and ranks among the busiest stops on the entire Underground network. Opened in 1999 and designed by Norman Foster, the station's vast barrel-vaulted entrance hall of steel and glass is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of contemporary transit architecture in Britain. Logging over 51 million passenger journeys in 2014 alone, it reflects Canary Wharf's transformation from derelict docklands into London's second financial centre — a regeneration story that began in earnest in the 1980s. A separate Elizabeth line station opened roughly 300 metres to the north in May 2022 but is not directly connected to the Underground station.
