Cannon Street

Cannon Street Station is a Victorian railway terminus in the City of London, opened in 1866 to a design by engineer John Hawkshaw. The original structure featured a sweeping iron-and-glass trainshed and twin riverside towers that made it one of the Thames's most dramatic Victorian landmarks. The Blitz inflicted severe damage, and the rebuilding of the 1960s stripped away most of what remained, leaving almost nothing of the original fabric. Today the station operates almost entirely as a commuter hub, channelling around 26 million rail passengers annually from London's southeastern suburbs into the financial district, with interchange to the Circle and District Underground lines below.
