Altenbeken station

Altenbeken station, located in the small municipality of Altenbeken in Paderborn district, is built as an island station — the main building sits enclosed by tracks on all sides. Its importance stems from the convergence of four railway lines: Hamm–Warburg, Altenbeken–Kreiensen, Altenbeken–Hannover, and Altenbeken–Herford, historically making it one of the key rail junctions in eastern Westphalia. Long-distance ICE and IC services on the central Germany corridor have declined in recent years, though the station remains a relevant interchange for regional rail traffic.
