The Capilla de la Caridad is a modest classicist chapel tucked into the Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo's historic old town, on Calle Maciel between 25 de Mayo and Washington streets. It forms part of the Hospital Maciel complex, one of Uruguay's oldest hospitals, and reflects the religious architectural traditions of the Spanish colonial era. Its restrained facade offers a quiet contrast to the surrounding street life of the old quarter.
