House of the Prince of Naples

The Casa del Principe di Napoli is a well-preserved Roman townhouse in the ancient city of Pompeii, uncovered during excavations in 1898 and named after the Prince of Naples who attended the dig as a guest of honor. The house is particularly valued for its largely intact wall paintings in the Third Pompeian Style, which decorate several rooms and offer a rare window into the domestic imagery favored by the Roman upper class before the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. Listed as an Italian national monument, the site is part of the wider Pompeii archaeological park.
