Quiet Renaissance church facing the Teatro La Fenice in Venice

San Fantin is a quietly distinguished Renaissance church in Venice's sestiere of San Marco, built between 1507 and 1564 by Antonio Abbondi (Scarpagnino) and Jacopo Sansovino. It stands directly opposite the famous Teatro La Fenice and next to the Ateneo Veneto. The church once served as the guild church of the Scaleteri, tradespeople who sold confectionery and baked goods. Today it is largely missed by tourists and offers a peaceful pause near the bustling San Marco district.
