At 62 m, the highest point of the Wingst ridge in Cuxhaven district, with an observation tower
The Deutscher Olymp, at around 62 metres above sea level, is the highest point of the Wingst ridge in the district of Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony, near the hamlet of Wassermuehle. The name is tongue-in-cheek – in utterly flat northern Germany, this modest hill counts as a remarkable elevation. An observation tower on the summit offers wide views over the North German Plain towards the Elbe on a clear day. The area is part of a popular nature and recreation zone that is also suitable for family walks.
