Dreifaltigkeitskapelle

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands alone in open farmland southwest of Gutenberg an der Gennach, near the road to Untergermaringen — no village, no churchyard, just the broad meadow landscape of the Allgäu around it. Built in 1704 in the Baroque style, it is listed as a protected monument in the Oberostendorf register of historic buildings. Wayside chapels of this type were commonly erected as votive offerings following epidemics or wartime hardship, serving travelers as a quiet roadside prayer stop. Today it offers a contemplative pause for walkers and cyclists passing through the flat countryside between Kaufbeuren and the Unterallgäu district.
