Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art

The Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art on the fourth floor of the Brooklyn Museum is the world's first public museum space devoted exclusively to feminist art history. It was founded in 2007 by historian and collector Elizabeth Sackler and centres on Judy Chicago's installation The Dinner Party - a triangular table with 39 place settings for historical and mythical women, supported by 999 further names inscribed on the floor. The work is considered one of the most influential pieces of 20th-century feminist art and is on permanent display here. Rotating exhibitions cover queer artists, activism and body politics; the visit combines well with the adjacent Botanic Garden or Prospect Park.
