Bruce Museum of Arts and Science

The Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut combines art, natural history and science under one roof, perched on a hill overlooking Greenwich Harbor. It originates with textile manufacturer Robert Moffat Bruce, who bequeathed his Victorian mansion to the town in 1908 on the condition that it be used "for art, science and history"; the museum opened in 1912. A 60 million dollar expansion completed in 2023 more than doubled the gallery space. Holdings include American landscape painting, Connecticut minerals and fossils, and a permanent display on the Cos Cob Art Colony of early American Impressionists. Families come for dinosaur casts and a walk-through mineral diorama of the Long Island Sound region.
