Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center is Brooklyn's most important transit hub, stitching together three adjacent subway stations that opened between 1908 and 1920 across the IRT Eastern Parkway, BMT Fourth Avenue, and BMT Brighton lines. Underground passageways connect it directly to the Long Island Rail Road's Atlantic Terminal, making it a rare multi-railroad interchange within the New York City system. The complex was known as Atlantic Avenue–Pacific Street until 2012, when it was renamed to reflect the opening of the Barclays Center sports arena next door. Its early 20th-century station infrastructure is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. The hub operates 24/7 and is fully wheelchair accessible.
