St Eusebius' Church, Arnhem

The Eusebiuskerk — commonly known as the Grote Kerk — is the Gothic main church of Arnhem and a listed Rijksmonument. Its present form dates largely to around 1550, representing the late Gothic style that dominated the Low Countries in the sixteenth century. The church was heavily damaged during the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944, when Operation Market Garden turned the city into one of the war's most contested urban battlegrounds; painstaking postwar reconstruction took several decades. It now serves as an active congregation of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands. The church tower is open to visitors and offers elevated views over the city and the Rhine.
