Helsinki Finland Temple

The Helsinki Finland Temple is the 124th temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and stands at Leppaesillantie 3 in Espoo, on the western fringe of Helsinki. Dedicated in 2006 by Gordon B. Hinckley, it long served as the central temple for Scandinavia, the Baltic states and parts of Russia. Its pale granite facade and the gold figure of the angel Moroni on the spire follow the standard repertoire of modern Mormon temples; the building covers 1,810 square metres and contains two ordinance rooms and four sealing rooms. Unlike regular meeting houses, the temple itself is open only to practicing members, but the surrounding birch garden is accessible and a small visitor centre explains the building's purpose and symbolism.
