Kesrihan

The Kesrihan caravanserai — also called Bayrampaşa Han or Çakıt Inn — is a crumbling Ottoman structure built in 1637 on the orders of Grand Vizier Bayrampaşa under Sultan Murat IV, located on the outskirts of Tarsus in the Çukurova plain. Unlike purely commercial caravanserais, it served a dual military-logistical role: a rest stop and troop assembly point for Ottoman forces rotating through southern Anatolia. Today the site is entirely undeveloped — no signage, no fencing, no official protection — and reaching the ruins requires crossing private land. Those who make the effort encounter massive stone wall remnants half-swallowed by vegetation, a largely forgotten piece of 17th-century Ottoman architecture sitting unguarded and unacknowledged just off the road toward the Varda Viaduct.
