Kino im Walzenlager

Kino im Walzenlager is a 45-seat independent arthouse cinema housed in a converted industrial building on the Altenberg cultural campus in Oberhausen. Founded in 1993, it operates as a repertory and second-run house, occasionally hosting exclusive national premieres of independent productions. Since 2012 it has served as a secondary venue for the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen — one of the world's oldest short film festivals — alongside the larger Lichtburg Filmpalast. The cramped, warehouse-like space gives screenings an intimacy that sets it apart from multiplex culture in the wider Ruhr region.
