LWL-Industriemuseum Zeche Nachtigall
Zeche Nachtigall in Witten-Bommern is one of the oldest surviving colliery sites in the Ruhr region, now home to an outpost of the LWL Industrial Museum network. Coal was extracted here as early as the first half of the 19th century, and the preserved shaft structures, tunnel entrances, and engine houses make the region's industrial transformation tangible. Since 2003 the site has served as an anchor point on the Route of Industrial Heritage and as an information centre for the Ruhr Region Geopark, offering underground tours and permanent exhibitions on mining history. Admission is charged; the entire site is wheelchair accessible.
