Beijing Concert Hall

Beijing Concert Hall lies on West Chang'an Avenue, the ceremonial east-west axis of Beijing, only a few hundred meters from Tian'anmen Square. It opened in 1985 and is the home venue of the China Philharmonic and a frequent stage for the China National Symphony Orchestra. With around 1,000 seats the hall is smaller and more intimate than the later National Centre for the Performing Arts; the programme focuses on the Western classical canon and Chinese orchestral works. Tickets are often available close to the date, making it a good fallback for travellers who find the famous Egg theatre sold out.
