LINE CUBE SHIBUYA

LINE CUBE SHIBUYA, originally the Shibuya Koukaido, is a multipurpose concert hall in Shibuya Ward that opened in 1964 in time for the Tokyo Olympics, where it hosted the weightlifting competitions. In the decades that followed the hall became a pilgrimage site for Japanese rock: while The Beatles played the Budokan, bands like Deep Purple and countless J-rock acts of the 1970s and 80s treated the Shibuya Koukaido as one of their most coveted venues. After a long renovation it reopened in 2019 as LINE CUBE SHIBUYA with around 2,000 seats. Today it hosts concerts, dance recitals and classical programs, tucked among Shibuya's neon towers.
