Linnanmäki

Linnanmaeki is Helsinki's most beloved amusement park, perched on a rocky hill in the Alppiharju district just minutes north of the city center. The name means castle hill, and locals simply call it Lintsi. It opened on 27 May 1950 and has never belonged to a corporate operator; instead it is run by the Children's Day Foundation, which channels all profits into child welfare programs across Finland. Its signature ride is the wooden coaster Vuoristorata from 1951, still operated with a brakeman on board. Around 40 other attractions, an observation tower and free entry in summer round out the offering; you pay per ride or for a wristband. In autumn the park transforms into the Karkkikarnevaali Halloween festival.
