Aachen Central Train Station

Aachen Central Station is one of the few fully operational mainline stations in Germany with a protected Art Nouveau facade, dating to around 1905 — its curved ornamental stonework stands in marked contrast to the utilitarian postwar stations that dominate the German rail network. Geographically, it occupies a unique position: Germany's westernmost ICE stop, serving international connections including the Eurostar route from Dortmund via Cologne and Brussels to Paris Nord, as well as the ICE International line to Frankfurt. The regional RE 18 Dreiländerzug cements its cross-border role, linking Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands on a single commuter line — a tangible product of the longstanding Euregio cooperation centered on Aachen. The station is fully wheelchair accessible throughout.
