Rostokino Aqueduct
Moscow
The Museum of Moscow was founded in 1896 as the city's history museum, making it one of Moscow's oldest. Since 2009 its main site has been the Provianthaus on the Garden Ring, an early-19th-century classicist warehouse complex that once supplied the garrison. The permanent display traces Moscow from the medieval Kremlin through the 1812 fire to Soviet city planning, often using original finds from archaeological digs beneath the centre. The wider network includes the Lefortovo Museum, the archaeological museum on Manezhnaya Square, and the Gilyarovsky art centre. Today the courtyard regularly hosts markets, film evenings, and readings, turning the museum into a lively urban forum.
