Oasia Hotel Downtown

Oasia Hotel Downtown is a 193-metre tower in Singapore's Central Business District that has been a global reference case for tropical high-rise design since opening in 2016. Designed by WOHA architects Wong Mun Summ and Richard Hassell, it is wrapped in a vivid red aluminium mesh on which 21 climbing plant species grow upward, opening up four full-storey sky gardens on levels 6, 12, 21 and 27. The permeable facade replaces the usual sealed glass curtain wall and produces natural ventilation despite the equatorial climate. The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat included it in its 2018 list of the world's best skyscrapers. Hotel guests and restaurant visitors can experience the open floors with harbour views; from street level the rest of the city simply sees a blazing red, plant-clad outlier among CBD glass towers.
