Musée d’Art Moderne

Palais de Tokyo on the right bank of the Seine in the 16th arrondissement is one of Europe's largest centres for contemporary art. The neoclassical building by Jean-Claude Dondel, Andre Aubert, Paul Viard and Marcel Dastugue was completed in 1937 for the Paris World's Fair Arts et Techniques; its eastern twin houses the City of Paris Musee d'Art Moderne. In 2002 architects Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal radically stripped the west wing back to bare concrete and steel and reopened it as raw exhibition space. The venue typically stays open from noon until midnight, making it one of the city's few late-night art addresses. On the ground floor the experimental restaurant Les Grands Verres works under a mirrored semicircular ceiling.
