Palais de la Découverte

Palais de la decouverte is a science museum in the west wing of the Grand Palais on Avenue Franklin D. Roosevelt. Founded in 1937 for the World's Fair Arts et Techniques dans la Vie moderne, it was run by Nobel-laureate physicist Jean Perrin together with biologist Jean Rostand. Perrin had a clear aim: science should not sit behind glass but happen as live experiment in front of the audience. The house still keeps that tradition with daily demonstrations on electrostatics, cryogenics and reaction chemistry, plus a classic planetarium under a 15-metre dome. After years of renovation of the Grand Palais, the Palais de la decouverte reopened in 2025 and is clearly aimed at families and school groups.
