St. Afra

St. Afra is a Gothic village church perched on the Theinselberg hill in the municipality of Lachen in the Unterallgäu district, named after the early Christian martyr Afra of Augsburg, who was put to death in the 3rd century. The church was originally Catholic — its dedication to a saint stands as a relic of its pre-Reformation identity, before the congregation converted to the evangelical-reformed confession.
