St. Hedwig

St. Hedwig is a Roman Catholic parish church in Völklingen, constructed in 1965 and representative of postwar modernist sacred architecture. It holds protected status as a Kulturdenkmal (cultural monument) of the Saarland, reflecting growing recognition of 1960s church design as architecturally significant. The church is dedicated to St. Hedwig of Silesia, patron of the poor and displaced — a dedication that carries particular resonance in a city shaped by industrial history and migration.
