Theater Nordhausen is the largest cultural institution in northern Thuringia, combining opera, theatre, and a professional symphony orchestra under one roof. The organisation was formed in 1991 by merging the Nordhausen stage companies with the Loh-Orchester Sondershausen — an ensemble whose roots stretch back to the 17th century, making it one of Germany's oldest professional orchestras. Today, operating under the brand TN LOS!, the ensemble employs around 200 people and anchors the region's cultural life with a programme spanning classical opera, symphonic concerts, drama, and children's theatre. The box office is open Tuesday to Friday 10:00–18:30 and Saturday from 16:00.
