Woodward Park

Woodward Park is a sprawling public park in northern Fresno, California, opened in 1968 along the edge of the San Joaquin River. It was made possible by the bequest of Ralph Woodward, who left part of his estate to the city specifically to establish a regional park and bird sanctuary. The grounds include an authentic Japanese garden with traditional pond landscaping, a multi-use amphitheatre, a disc golf course, a BMX track, and three children's playgrounds — an unusually diverse range of amenities for a single municipal park. Trails within the park connect directly to the Lewis S. Eaton Trail, extending the accessible route along the riverfront. The combination of a protected bird habitat and active recreational facilities draws a broad cross-section of Fresno residents year-round.
