The Fresno California Temple is the 78th operating temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, announced by the church's First Presidency on January 8, 1999, and the first LDS temple to serve California's central valley. Like all LDS temples, the building is reserved exclusively for endowed church members holding a current temple recommend — it is not open to the general public, distinguishing it from the church's meetinghouses. The structure follows the clean modern style common to many late-20th-century LDS temples.
