About Gyumri
Gyumri is Armenia's second-largest city, home to around 122,000 people, situated in the Shirak region of the country's northwest. The city has a complex history and was severely affected by the 1988 earthquake. Nearby points of interest include religious monuments such as Surb Astvatsatsin Church, Surb Sion, Hogevank Monastery, and Lmbatavank. Considered one of Armenia's main cultural centres, Gyumri also serves as a convenient base for exploring the northern parts of the country, including the city of Vanadzor further to the east.
