About Joensuu

Joensuu is the regional capital of North Karelia in eastern Finland, situated on the Pielisjoki River shortly before it flows into Lake Pyhäselkä. With a population of around 79,000, it is one of the larger cities in eastern Finland and home to a significant university. The surrounding landscape offers varied natural retreats, including the Repovaara and Kangasvesi areas, while Ristipuisto provides a green space in the city centre.
