About Kitakyūshū

Kitakyūshū sits at the northern tip of Kyūshū island in Fukuoka Prefecture and, with a population of around 935,000, ranks among the largest cities in the region. Formed in 1963 through the merger of five former industrial cities, it long served as a centre of heavy industry in Japan. Today the city offers a relaxed urban atmosphere with green spaces scattered throughout its neighbourhoods, including 槻田なかよし公園, 夕原緑地, and 南方もみじ公園, which provide pleasant spots for walks and leisure.
