Marktoberdorf
Marktoberdorf is a small district capital in the Bavarian Allgäu, situated roughly 100 kilometres south-west of Munich, with a population of just under 20,000. Set against the gentle foothills of the Alps, the town offers a glimpse into regional history through sites such as Burg Eichelschwang, the Eisenbahnmuseum Allgäu, and the church of St. Rochus. The legacy of Clemens Wenzeslaus, the last Elector of Trier, also has local connections here. It serves as a quiet base for exploring the surrounding Allgäu pre-Alpine countryside.
