About Pessinus

Pessinus is an ancient city in central Turkey, situated in what is now Eskişehir Province. Once one of the most important Phrygian religious centres of antiquity, it was a major seat of the cult of Cybele, the Great Mother goddess. The archaeological site lies around the modern village of Ballıhisar. Visitors can explore the surrounding hills, including Kızıl Tepe, Dümrekçal Tepesi, Sarnıç Tepesi, and Kara Tepe, as well as local landmarks such as Hazinedar Camii and the Nasreddin Hoca Tesisleri.
