About Ankara

Ankara is the capital of Turkey and, with a population of around 5.8 million, the country's second-largest city. Situated in the heart of Anatolia at an elevation of roughly 850 metres, it serves as Turkey's political and administrative centre, home to government institutions, foreign embassies and numerous universities. Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of the republic's founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, stands as one of the most significant monuments of modern Turkey. The city also features mosques such as the Ahmet Ziyauddin Gümüşhane Hazreti Cami ve Külliyesi, as well as parks and local markets like Subayevleri Pazar Yeri.
