About Zincirli Höyük

Zincirli Höyük, known in the ancient world as Sam'al, is an archaeological site in Kahramanmaraş province in southern Turkey. It was once the capital of a Neo-Hittite and Aramaic city-state during the early first millennium BCE, and excavations here have yielded important Iron Age finds. The broader area includes sites and landmarks such as Taşoluk, Kocager Tepe, Kalecik Tepe, and Elbistan Höyüğü, as well as mosques including Çamurlugeçit Camii, Yıldırım Beyazıt Camii, and Karşıyaka Camii, and a Millet Bahçesi. It is a destination particularly suited to visitors with an interest in ancient history.
