About Soli

Soli is a coastal locality in Mersin Province, southern Turkey, associated with the ancient city of Pompeiopolis, refounded by the Roman general Pompey in the first century BC. The site of Pompeiopolis Limanı preserves traces of this Greco-Roman past. The present-day area encompasses several neighbourhoods, including Tömekli, and is home to local mosques such as Eski Mezitli Camii and Akarca Camii, as well as the green space of Şehit Er Bilal Konya Parkı. It offers a quiet base for those interested in ancient history along the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.
