Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, is home to nearly three million people and ranks among the largest cities in Central Asia. Situated in the fertile Chirchiq valley at the foothills of the Tian Shan mountains, the city blends Soviet-era urban planning with Islamic architecture and older heritage.
