Transport HubRailway Station
Aarau station, opened in 1856, is the main rail hub of the Aargau cantonal capital and sits on Switzerland's busiest east–west rail corridor between Zurich, Bern, and Basel. The original late-classicist station building designed by Jakob Friedrich Wanner in 1859 was demolished in 2008 and replaced by a modern structure. Today it serves SBB intercity trains alongside regional and S-Bahn services of the Aargau and Zurich networks. The station offers free Wi-Fi and step-free access throughout.
