Agrippastraße Serpentine Rosenthal

The Agrippa Road near Rosenthal in the Eifel is a preserved section of a Roman long-distance road laid out under Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa in the 1st century BC, connecting Cologne (Colonia) with Trier (Augusta Treverorum). The stretch near Mechernich follows a winding serpentine course through forested hillside terrain, revealing the grading and routing techniques of Roman engineers. Today the track is accessible as a walking path and offers a rare tangible encounter with Roman road construction in the western Eifel.
