Castra Argentovaria
Argentovaria is the collective name for a late-Roman military fort and associated civilian settlement located at present-day Biesheim in Alsace, near the Rhine border with the Waldkirch region. The site formed part of the late-Roman defensive infrastructure along the Upper Rhine during the 3rd and 4th centuries. Excavations have uncovered the fort's ground plan and traces of civilian structures, revealing a functioning garrison town of some scale. Listed as a protected historic monument, little remains visible above ground today, but finds from the site are preserved and documented in regional archaeological collections.
