Al Udeid Air Base

Al Udeid Air Base sits approximately 32 kilometers southwest of Doha near Al Rayyan and functions as the largest U.S. military installation in the Middle East. Completed in 1996 as a Qatari Air Force facility, it is primarily operated today by the United States Air Force alongside the Royal Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force. The base hosts the Air Operations Center of U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM), from which air campaigns over Afghanistan and Iraq were coordinated. The installation is closed to the public.
